Research into cannabidiol has started in the 60s , but it was known long time before that. Full attention to this substance was given  in 1963, when its chemical structure was determined. Research has  shown that the effects of CBD are absolutely diferent from THC. In the 1970s, CBD gained even more attention, appeared in small scientific publications, especially for  its interaction with THC. It has been proved conclusively that it is not a psychoactive substance, quite the contrary the possibilities of treating epilepsy and its sedative effects were researched.

At the beginning research of CBD has been neglected , but its benefits are huge

Researchers have neglected CBD and its therapeutic potential for a long time, unlike THC. However, its pharmacological effects have been proven during recent years .Cannabidiol protects nerve cells against oxygen deficiency and poisons, and also helps against alcohol poisoning. And it generally slows down the process of growing old of cells . It also has tremendous potential for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, strokes, diabetes, arthritis, cancer, psychiatric disorders and futhermore.

Is it legal?

The threshold for  cultivation of cannabis is up to 0.2% THC within the European Union, but may vary from one country to another; in the Czech Republic this limit is 0.3%. European Union law requires that each package of CBD flowers has to be marked by a warning that it is not for direct consumption, but only for scientific purposes or for further processing. There are no other restrictions  againts CBD, apart from the content of cannabidiol, it is similary to   cannabis – technical cannabis varieties have been specially breded and selected from canabis .  CBD has grown for example in Switzerland, Italy or Greece. The Czech Republic is not lagging behind in terms of product offer, but e-shops offer mostly imports from abroad.
